Amphitrite, the ruler of the seas, the daughter of Nereus and wife of Poseidon, is carried by Tritons on a shell festooned with garlands of flowers. Brightly painted with overglaze enamels.

The figure group was popular in the early twentieth century, and has been produced up to the present day under the name “Venus und Amor in Muschel”. (D. Braunová)
